The Syrian Arab Red Crescent – Qatana sub- branch distributed 2547 food parcel, 579 flour bags and 961 blankets to the affected families in Qatana and Jdadet Artooz on June 25 th 2015. The Syrian Arab Red Crescent always keen on the distribution of relief materials to the most vulnerable groups, according to its principles.
Bad living conditions, disease widespread and the lack of services provided to displaced families triggered SARC teams to response to Al-Kiswah (Al Saada area) on June 1st 2015. SARC’s health team provided health care to 387 beneficiaries, the Psycho-social support teams provided entertainment activities and purposed play to 175 Child, in addition to distributing gifts at the end of the activity. Other volunteers made awareness sessions to the mothers on disease prevention and reproductive health. Water and Sanitation team of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent- Rural Damascus Branch and along with Water and Sanitation team of the International Committee of the Red Cross paid an assessment visit to Sehnaya city on June 7th 2015. The teams met the Municipal Council and discussed issues related to the water sources and sanitation problems. Therefore they suggested water situation’s improvements through equipping wells in order to increase its production. On June 6th 2015, The European Commissions –Director General for Humanitarian Aid delegation along with a delegation from SARC Head Quarter and SARC’s Rural Damascus Branch paid a visit to SARC’s Qatana dispensary. The visitors were briefed on the work mechanism as well as they met doctors and medics on shift. The delegation also visited SARC’ sub-branch in Qatana, as well as the Medical Compound mobile clinics, First Aid Centre and the sheltering center in Jaramana city.
Water and sanitation-SARC-Rural Damascus team equipped a kitchen inside AL-Shabab shelters in AL-Tall city with all the necessary supplies and equipment as refrigerators and cooking facilities, in addition to supporting the kitchen with the needed dry food components. This kitchen will serve more than 500 meals to the displaced people in the city, and the cooked food will be prepared by the women in the shelter. The meals are expected to be raised to about 800 meals per day.
