140 Volunteers prequalified to provide Psycho-social Support Services in Rural Damascus.


The psychosocial support Department of Rural Damascus’ SARC keeps the process of qualifying the volunteers in the fields of psychosocial support and psychological first aid. Five courses were done since the beginning of 2014. Recently, two courses were done in Alttal SARC’s sub-branch with the participation of 30 volunteers from the same sub-branch. It’s worthy to report that the trainers of Rural Damascus’ SARC branch are keeping the process of training and qualifying the volunteers from different sub-branches. 


Emergency response- maintenance of 700mm water line in Deir Ezzor governorate


Under the framework of joint water project between the SARC and the ICRC, the SARC water team of Deir Ezzor branch in cooperation with Water Establishment conducted an emergency repair for 700mm water line in al-Wasat street in Deir Ezzor governorate. Approximately 200,000 people benefit from this line which supports many areas in Deir Ezzor city. The SARC facilitated and provided logistical support to local water board’s workers in addition; the SARC obtained a ceasefire for two days which in turn secured safe access to the maintenance area which is a clashes area.


Operational Update –Hama Branch December 2014


SARC, Hama branch, carried out various activities and services in December, most importantly were celebrating the International Volunteer Day, carrying out a campaign for hygiene promoting titled ‘hygiene means health’ with the participation of 1500 child, and listing 36 volunteers in first-aid courses. Relief The Registration team registered full data for 417 affected and displaced people, while the assessment team continued evaluating the needs of the sheltering centers and houses of affected and displaced families, in Dec.2014 the team evaluated 220 families.
