SARC Homs-Al-Rrastan sub branch fixed and reactivated bakeries that stopped for a while in AL-Rrastan area in order to produce bread and distribute it to beneficiaries due to the current lack of bread crisis. The bakeries were reactivated as relief aids arrived into that area. Last week and on April 21st , SARC Homs branch delivered the third and the final relief convoys to Arrastan, Tel Amerie, Akrad ddassniy and Kafr Nan. Though of the challenging crisis SARC’s volunteers continues their work with heroes hearts to help vulnerable people. On the anniversary of the May 8th which marked the response to the returning people to their homes in the old city and the World Red Cross Red Crescent Day, as well as the 50th anniversary of the seven fundamental principles (Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary service, Unity, and Universality), SARC’s volunteers continue their work with the ICRC and IFRC within the deteriorating situation in Syria. They challenge all difficulties to deliver humanitarian aid in an impartial and neutral attitude to millions of needy people.
588 children participated in the Open Day event that organized by the hygiene promotion team in SARC’s Homs branch. The event was the final activity of “Together for a better school environment” campaign held in Kafr Aya. The mentioned campaign contained various communicative, competitive and cooperative activities (my tree, competition, washing hands, combine and discover, the treasure, clothesline, my tools and puppet theater). During its first stage, it emphasized on strengthening aspects of “washing hands, dealing with lice and scabies and the general and personal hygiene behaviors” among children. It is important to give information about the principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and to spread the Humanitarian International Law which Geneva Conventions represent its deep basic starting with the volunteers and ending with the whole local community. In March, SARC Homs held three workshops on the principles of the Humanitarian International Law. 106 volunteers of SARC Homs branch attended these workshops, that lasted for three sequence weeks.
On April 16th the SARC’s mobile health care team accompanied with the ICRC delegation had been to AlZakim village on a checking mission. The team check ed the work of the health care team and the services provided to the beneficiaries in the countryside. 222 patients were treated in the three clinics. Health care team continues its regular visits to reach more areas in the countryside and to help children and women suffering from cold weather problems, synchronizing with the liver diseases.
