Disaster Management unit team of Syrian Arab Red Crescent- Damascus Branch did a vaccination campaign for five days starting on Sunday 20/11/2016 till Thursday 24/11/2016 in the eastern area of Al Kadam town, in addition to the Al-Hajar Al-Aswad & Al Yarmouk Camp areas in cooperation with the Ministry of Health. During the campaign, 384 children (5 days- 5 years old) were vaccinated. The accompanied medical team checked 277 cases (women and children) and the provide them with medicines.
Psychosocial support department Youth and Training Committee -SARC – Damascus Branch conducted a training course on psychological first aid and on Wednesday, 22.11.2016 for three days with participation of twenty-five first aider. The course included several topics which concentrates on Crises and its affect, the psychological pressure and adapting, Self-care for volunteers and Communication. It included also information and practical exercises and workshops concerning cases of the first aiders’ daily work.
Five first aid courses were carried out during November 2016 by the first aid training committee – Damascus branch. These courses targeted the staff and volunteers of the humanitarian support project of Damascus branch where it brought 100 trainees together, and it covered the whole first aid topics in a basics.
First aid squads responded to calls of several shells fell in Al-Muhajireen and Malki areas, where the squads provided first aid services for three cases on the ground.
In the framework of the training and rehabilitation activities of the Disaster Management Unit – SARC- Damascus branch and in cooperation with the refugee project UNHCR, the second self-protection course was carried out in Nov, 2016 . The two days course was held in Al- Sayeda Zeinab area attended by 18 trainees, and involved subjects on emergency plan and right to do-steps in accident cases, in order to raise awareness in times of danger and to alleviate the severity of the injuries. It is worth to mention that he first course had been held on 10.09.2016 and was attended by 34 trainees in Khan Dannoun area.
