SARC Responses to Ensure Continuity of a Pediatric Hospital


Syrian Arab Red Crescent – Aleppo branch’s teams (field intervention, health care & water and sanitation) in cooperation with the International Committee of Red Cross succeeded in delivering and installing a new electricity generator, supported by ICRC , to the only pediatric hospital in eastern part of Aleppo city as well as starting maintenance work to its old generator. “First Aid Principles” Courses for 150 Volunteers


First Aid Committee in Aleppo branch of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent continues on promoting first aid knowledge through frequent training courses. In this context, SARC – Aleppo finished two “First Aid Principles” courses to 50 volunteers. The training was to explain the first aider characteristics, general principles in first aid, right acting steps and how to help causalities with  bleeding, wounds, fractures, burns. It also concentrated on artificial breathing (AB) and Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) techniques. Children Gaming Sessions Carried out in Aleppo


The Counseling Center for ‪Psycho-social Support at the Syrian Arab Red Crescent- Aleppo branch concluded ‪‎children gaming sessions that took place at  the sheltering center in the University ‪‎Campus in Aleppo city. The gaming sessions aimed to ease  the pressure experienced by the children and give them a space to express their feelings through various playing games such as “My Name and I”  which boosts children’s self-confidence.  “My Feelings” is another game that helps children to speak up their  feelings and emotions frankly , while “My Dream and I” allows them to narrate their night dreams, write down their daydreams and ambitions. Ms. Marianne Gasser meetings with SARC- Aleppo management

During her visit to ‪‎Aleppo, Ms. Marianne Gasser, the head of International Committee of Red Cross delegation in ‪Syria, conducted a meeting with Syrian Arab Red Crescent – Aleppo branch’s management and field team leaders in the branch. The meeting discussed several ‎humanitarian issues and mechanisms of joint actions between the two components of the International Movement of Red Cross and Red Crescent that are based on the same basic principles. ‪‎ICRC delegation headed by Ms. Gasser along with Relief and Assessment Coordinator in ‪‎SARC – Aleppo also visited Al-Ihsan Charity kitchen which is supported by SARC and ICRC.  


ICRC Delegation’s on Field Visits in Aleppo

The Head of  the ICRC delegation in Syria, Ms. Marianne Gasser accompanied with Mr. Hail Assi, SARS’s Aleppo Branch Director, paid a field visit to the Bustan AlQasr – AlMasharqa Humanitarian Crossing Point . The visit came in a time  while SARC – Aleppo field intervention team was escorting  11 humanitarian case with a companion to each from eastern part of Aleppo city in order to receive the needed medical care. They also visited Tishreen Housing Association ( sheltering centre) to see the SARC  and ICRC collaboration  in action.
