The 70-year-old Um Nader, who has left her home in Rural Damascus due to the crisis and relocated in the industrial area in Shahba City, visited SARC’s mobile clinic to receive various healthcare services. 3459 beneficiaries received necessary healthcare including medical check up and free medications through the mobile clinic field visits to 33 villages in Swaida during the first half of 2017.
Training and building capacities in first aid field is fundamental in SARC – Swaida Branch. 29 volunteers participated in a course of principles of first aid, which went on for four days from 07-06-2017 until 10-06-2017. The course included various topics, such as proper acting steps, handling bleeding, fractures, burns, CPR and other.
In order to provide the people of Sahwat Al-Khudr village with safe drinking water, the water and sanitation team installed three new water tanks provided by ICRC, in several places in the village with the capacity of 25 barrels for each, with the help of Sahwat Al-Khudr sub-branch’s volunteers to set the convenient locations for the water tanks.
Within 2 months ( April and May 2017), malnutrition treatment team at SARC-Swaida Branch managed to reach 1732 children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, who were checked up at the malnutrition treatment center. The malnutrition treatment center promotes public health awareness sessions and provides healthcare including nutrients and vitamins for children ( 6 months to 5 years) as well as for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
The first well in Alkafer Town is put actively in service that would alleviate residents’ suffering of water scarcity and the costs of attaining water supply, providing 15 thousand people with drinking water.The well was equipped by the water and sanitation team at SARC-Swaida Branch, supported by ICRC and in cooperation with Swaida Water Establishment.
