In order to motivate students to continue their education, the Syrian Arab Red Crescent Swaida-Branch held courses for elementary students on mathematics, Arabic and English at Fawzi Mezher and Sulaiman Amr schools in Swaida city and Mamdouh Sriwi School in Ira village. The team also distributed stationery items to 1052 students in cooperation with the Terre Des Hommes Organization.
The livelihoods support team carried out their first project, which aimed to support the farmers and enable them to depende on their local production. The project included a distribution of chickpea seeds and fertilizer to 306 families affected by the crisis in Salkhad City, Urman village and Almneithra village. Meeting the needs of the people in Swaida of bread requires increasing the production of the bakeries that are affected by the electricity suspension and power generators failures.The water and sanitation team at SARC Swaida Branch provided the bakeries with electric generation set with the capacity of 300 KVA for the automatic bakery in Swaida City and with the capacity of 80 KVA for the reserve bakery in AlQrayya Town, The generators are provided by ICRC.
As a part of Psychosocial Support Team’s recreational activities at SARC Swaida Branch, the team dedicated an activity to promote oral and dental health care for the students of Fozi Mezher and Kamel Srewi schools in Ateel village. Various drawings and brochures used to explain the importance of dental hygiene during the activity. At the end, the team distributed toothbrushes and toothpaste to 800 children through the beloved character Santa Clause.
In order to improve livelihoods for the affected families, the livelihoods team at SARC – Swaida Branch launched their first developmental project through distributing chickpea seeds and fertilizer in 7 villages in Swaida Governorate so far (Al Mazraa – Al Mashqouq – Al Thaala – Mafa’aleh – Al A’afineh – Ira and Al Mjemir )with beneficiaries of 951 families.
