In coordination with Water Institution and supported by ICRC, SARC Water and Sanitation team in Swaida launched a project of power line install with length of 24 kilometers on Nov 1st 201. The project is dedicated to activate the wells in Khazmah area with electricity power with beneficiaries of 73700 people all over Salkhad area at the southern rural of Swaida.
Raising awareness of health promotion is an essential aspect of the work of the health team and the psycho-social support team at SARC – Swaida Branch. Therefore, the team held health awareness and health education sessions on lice infection ( symptoms, means of transmission, treatment and prevention) for parents in Kamel Srewi School in Ateel village and Fozi Mezher School in Swaida City. Volunteers distributed 235 shampoo bottles and brochures on how to maintain personal hygiene.
Water and Sanitation team of SARC– Swaida Branch responded to water shortage crisis in the rural of Swaida (Salakhed, Altha’lah, Dama , Aldweri, Ta’ara and Shakka). Supported by ICRC, the team replaced eight submersible water pumps in those villages and restored some of the water wells with (pull pipes – cables for the pumps) in order to provide Swaida and its rural with safe drinking water.
Water & Sanitation Team SARC- Swaida Branch in cooperation with local community water institution and supported by the International Committee of the Red Cross installed a new water pipeline (22000 meters) in length and (160 millimeters) in diameter to ensure the access of safe drinking water in sufficient quantities to the people in Al-Kafer Town and to avoid the wastage and leakage problem as a result of the old decomposed water pumping system there. The project began on the first of this month and is scheduled to be implement within 60 days..
Within the constant strained circumstances and the increasingly displacement movement from Bosra Al-Sham area to Sweida governorate, the Syrian Arab Red Crescent- Sweida Branch rushed to help all affected families there. The first aid and disaster management team distributed (470) food parcels, (1242) blankets, (1042) mattresses, and Kitchen and hygiene kits. The teams built more tent in Rassas village to shelter the evacuated families.
