The Syrian Arab Red Crescent teams have established a collective kitchen in Al-Holl Camp in Hasakeh. The kitchen started producing ready to eat and hot meals for 200 families and 614 persons there on 16/2/2019. On the first day, it produced 613 meals, which increased on the second day to 700 meals for 194 families. On the third day, it managed to produce 424 meals. This kitchen was established and equipped with the support of the ICRC.
In the middle of Hasakeh city, the schools have witnessed an increase in students number, where SARC’ Water and construction team launched a hygiene awareness campaign. It included different educational activities of hands washing, personal hygiene and lice prevention. During the one month campaign, supported by IMC, SARC volunteers distributed 30.000 soap bars, 3000 anti-lice spray and 6500 anti-lice shampoo. They also provided the schools with 190 hygiene kits that contains brooms, trash cans and shovels.
In conjunction with the response in Rukban, SARC’s volunteers in Hasakeh have distributed winter children clothes, provided by UNICEF, to 509 families (1330 children) in Al-Mabroukah, Ein Al-Khadraa and Khan Al-Jabal camps. In addition, they are establishing a collective kitchen in Al-Hol camp to provide the arriving families with ready to eat meals on daily basis in cooperation with the ICRC. In the same time, the PSS mobile team continues to launch psychological support sessions and entertaining activities for the children.
When Fatima (4 y) smiled in front of the camera, she moved everyone’s emotions around her making them smile back, especially SARC volunteers, her old friends. She has known them since 6 years ago when she left with her family their home in Kafer Zita in Hama to Lattakia because of the tough circumstances. SARC volunteers in Hasakeh continue the distribution of the seeds grant, provided by ICRC, to 4000 affected farmers and returnees in the southern areas (Shadadi, Markada and Areesheh) and the surrounding rural areas, as well as in Tall Brak, Al-Holl and the southern rural of Qamishli city. The distribution process is carried out according to previous assessments and in collaboration with the Directorate of Agriculture where every farmer gets 150 kg fertilizers and 200 kg barley or wheat seeds.
