Emilda love to do her homework at the community centre


Emilda, 8, likes to come to the community centre in Al-Ghizlanieh,  Rural Damascus, to do her homework. “Here I can study better. Even my teachers at school have noticed that, she says. Five years ago, Emilda had to leave her home in Al-Thiablieh in Rural Damascus due to the difficult situation there. During the years, she has been coming to the centre. Emilda’s dream is to become a lawyer. She would also like to help people to get better housing in the future. This project is supported by International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies  


Family’s bond challenges the cold winter


A strong will and determination that what have helped Nour (8 years) to fight the blood cancer that consumed her slim body. She is a daughter of a physically handicapped father, who cannot move but still embrace his children. She has one brother who is mentally challenged, while his, while his mother has spread all the possible tenderness have worked hard to support her family. The strong friendship between Nour and SARC volunteers has encouraged her to grab the opportunity during winter clothes distribution and invite them at home.
