SARC Water and Sanitation team started a project to drag water to Al Ghezlaniya town from two wells on the airport road on Oct 21, 2017. According to the project’s in charge engineer, the wells have water provision of 200 m3/h that will reach the town through 1800 meters water pipeline, in addition to 4 horizontal pumps, which will be installed to raise the water into two tanks. This project will provide drinking water for 80,000 beneficiaries in Al Ghezlaniya in cooperation with the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC).
This year October was very long and exhausting month for SARC volunteers in Al Dumayer as they distributed humanitarian aid for more than 20 thousand people. As the relief team distributed 2500 food parcels in the town, and other 2990 for arrivals in industrial city of Adra, while the disaster management teams responded to the arrival families from eastern areas and provided: 990 blankets, 803 canned food, 288 mattresses, 247 kitchen kits, 652 sleeping bags in addition to daily meals and bread bags. These items are supported by ICRC and UNHCR.
Water team is keen to make sure that Aleppo people have access to potable water. Therefore, volunteers of the team have recently rehabilitated the borehole in Hanano park and repaired its desalination plant. The borehole is in service again and provides water for about 15000 beneficiaries
Disaster Unit in cooperation with the Psychosocial Support Team at the Syrian Arab Red Crescent – Swaida Branch supported by Terre Des Hommes, held training workshops to raise awareness of organizing safe evacuation and psychological first aid for secondary and high school students in 21 schools in the villages of western and eastern rural of Swaida governorate. The workshops included 4168 students and 546 teachers to be able to deal with emergencies and maintain their safety
