On March 2017, SARC Damascus Disaster Management Unit finished two training courses on the principles of disaster management within 5 days for each. The courses aimed to develop the skills of the volunteers and improve their abilities on responding and high preparedness in order to help those affected everywhere. The topics included a brief on the principles of the International Movement and the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the concept of disaster preparedness, emergency needs assessment, water and sanitation, hygiene promotion, restoring family links, livelihoods and logistics. Due to the deterioration of the public health situations among the affected communities, SARC-Homs branch developed the national program for health promotion in the local communities in order to provide healthy and dignified life for the affected people. Damascus/Geneva, 05 April, 2017 – Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) mourns Red Crescent volunteer Mohamed Jamal Al-Wardi who lost his life in a horrible accident on Wednesday, April 05, 2017 in DeirEzZor governorate while on duty. Last week, SARC lost another volunteer, Firas Hussain, who martyred in Al-Tabaqa area in Al-Raqqa governorate. Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) extends its condolences to Mohamad’s family, friends and his fellow volunteers at this sad time.
