International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and SARC mourn loss of SARC volunteer wounded in 8 February attack in Aleppo


Damascus/Geneva, 10 February 2017 – Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) remain in mourning today following news that a Red Crescent volunteer who was injured in the 8 February attack on a SARC distribution centre in Hamadaniya, Aleppo, has passed away. Red Cross Red Crescent Movement and SARC condemn attack on SARC aid distribution centre in Hamadaniya, Aleppo


Damascus, 8 February 2017 The Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) condemn the attack on a SARC distribution centre in Hamadaniya, Aleppo. One SARC staff member was killed. Seven SARC volunteers and staff were injured – three of them severely. SARC Delivers sterilization chlorine gas to Ascinn station


Syrian Arab Red Crescent in Tartous & Lattakia in coordination with the Headquarters responded to sudden stop working chlorine gas sterilization devices in Ascinn station, which lead to stop pumping water. They managed to deliver eight sterilizers with chlorine gas (4 reserve- 4 working) introduced by the International Committee of the Red Cross to the mentioned station.


SARC delivered high Water- Pumping capacity to Al Boteha


Water and sanitation team of Syrian Arab Red Crescent – Quneitra branch in cooperation with International Committee of Red Cross delivered High-pressure water pump to Al-boteha Municipality on 22/1/2017. The pump help to clean up the sewages network in Al-boteha which always clogged and make people suffer. Almost 50 thousands residents in Al-Wafeeden Camp will get benefit from this pump.


SARC delivered two Water Sterilization Units and Eight Generators to Al-Hasakeh


SARC Water & Sanitation team in cooperation with ICRC and in coordination with Water Establishment in Al-Hasakeh delivered 2 water sterilization units and 8 Generators to Water Establishment in Al-Hasakeh governorate on 04/01/2017. The units are to sterilize Al-Himmeh and Assfan water stations in order to provide more than 600.000 beneficiaries with safe water, while the generators will provide basic water and sanitations services to more than 140.000 beneficiaries in Al-Nirouz Camp, The National Hospital, Al-Qahtanieh, Ra’as Al-Ein, Makhroum and the technical services department in Al-Qamishly area.
