Al-Riyada is one of the most vulnerable areas that SARC – Aleppo medical mobile targets with its services. During two months, the team visited the area 8 times, examined 391 patients and gave them the needed medications. The medical services were in conjunction with holding raising awareness sessions for women and adolescent girls, 218 beneficiaries totally. Sessions were on hepatitis A, diabetes and hypertension.
Training and building capacities are a constant priority and a goal for Aleppo branch of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent. In this context, SARC – Aleppo’s PSS Committee has concluded a course on principles of community based first aid for 28 volunteers of Palestinian Red Crescent. The 5 day course dealt with several subjects such as crises, psychosocial support, stress, adaptation, sadness, loss, community based psychosocial support, first aid, supporting communication, children and supporting volunteers and employees. The UNICEF representative in Syria visited SARC – Aleppo and met with some board members, the management and coordinators of health care, water and psychosocial support teams. The meeting involved a presentation of the various activities done by SARC – Aleppo branch departments, especially those conducted in collaboration with UNICEF. It also discussed some future joint activities and projects.
