The International Committee of the Red Cross on a Visit to SARC’s Al-Zahera Centre in Damascus

Ms. Myrian Ghasser, Head of Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross, and her deputy, Mrs. Beatrice Oechsli, paid a briefing visit to Al-Zahera center and the Disaster Management Unit -operational response center of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent on 19/05/2015. The visit, which comes in the mutual cooperation framework between the ICRC and SARC, was accompanied by Mr. Tammam Mehrez, Head of Disaster Management Unit, and Ms. Razan Jaradeh, Head of First Aid Teams. Relief aid Items reached Al-Waer neighborhood

SARC Homs and in collaboration with the ICRC delivered an aid convoy to operating charities in Al Waer neighborhood on Thursday. The convoy contained 25 trucks loaded with food and non-food items , This mission started on  May 20th 2015. The items were offered by the ICRC, and contained (food parcels, hygiene kits, mattresses, candles, sleeping mats and school bags). More than 15.000 families will be benefited from these aids for a month.

A Story Between Difficulty of Travelling and Amputation Suffering

During the current crisis, some people lost their lower or upper limbs ; either they had an injury or their illness developed to the extent that they lost one of their limbs. On  April 2014, the Disaster management committee of SARC- Homs branch  insisted on forming a PWSN team. The team’s basic mission, which is done by some doctors and volunteers of the health awareness team, was to do a health survey and an assessment for the disabled people and to provide them by the necessary needs according to the survey and assessment data.
