The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement deplores the death of two aid workers in Syria

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is shocked and saddened by the death of Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) volunteers Ikhlas Ibraheem al-Sulaiman and Muhammad Ahmad Othman, of the Homs Branch, who were killed on 7 November. Ms. al-Sulaiman and Mr. Othman were members of the Homs Branch psycho-social team. They were killed when a mortar shell hit a civilian area of Homs as they transported supplies to be used as part of a joint SARC-UNICEF psycho-social project that helps children traumatized by the conflict. Syrian Arab Red Crescent Volunteers’ Honoring Ceremony


On the occasion of the Voluntarism International day, Ministry of Social Affairs honored the Syrian Arab Red Crescent volunteers. The occasion, which took place in Daar Al-Assad for Culture & Arts, was held in recognition of the great efforts that exerted by the organization through its constant endeavors to provide relief and health aid services on high levels.

On the occasion of the International Voluntarism Day, we organize our anniversary to highlight the importance the volunteerism work and to recognize the prominent role of SARC young volunteers who are the backbone of the organization. Today, the Arab Red Crescent have more than 11000 volunteers with the crescent emblem on their chest.
